Stay in school, kids. It makes it much easier to keep your job during recessions.
What I find interesting is comparing the 2001 recession to the recent recession. In 2001, it looks like the unemployment rate for those with a bachelor’s degree stopped increasing right at the end of the recession. In the meantime, the other levels continued to rise for another 18 months.
During the current recession, the bachelor’s degree unemployment is continuing to rise, while we’ve seen a halt of some sort (albeit potentially temporary) in the rest of the education levels.
