I would like to direct the turkey day fans toward my new site CranberrySauceRecipe.com.
I just purchased the site two days ago, after my note on taking advantage of this opportunity, and put up a very simple site with Adwords and my mothers recipe for cranberry sauce. Please do try it. I will dream of it for months afterwards.
I am a fan of parking certain sites as I do think advertisers can actually provide better information than myself at times. I also think parking services provide great templates and make viewing pages easy on the eyes. But for recipe sites, I like to provide a little local flavor (pun intended).
By Conor on 11.22.07 Remember:
- Tryptophan is a myth
- The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys always play on Thanksgiving. A surprise to some, the Lions have been doing it for longer (1934 vs 1966). Is it wrong to ask for a Redskins-Cowboys game on Thanksgiving?
- 17% of the turkey eaten each year is eaten on Thanksgiving Day (46 mil/262 mil birds).
- Enjoy your turkey because we may have a slight salmon shortage due to this jellyfish attack on a salmon farm in Northern Ireland. Well, not a shortage except for maybe briefly in London, but that is still a crazy story.
- Skip the traffic of Black Friday. Save your shopping until the Saturday before Christmas, when the majority of Christmas shopping is really done. Or do it online on Cyber Monday, the Monday following this Black Friday.
- Lastly, get ready for an expensive day:
- “A Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner with side dishes and dessert will be 11% more expensive this year, the biggest annual increase since 1990, because of depleted frozen-turkey supplies and rising energy prices.” -American Farm Bureau Federation
- “Adjusted for inflation, the cost is $20.46, about 9% less than in the first survey in 1986.” – American Farm Bureau Federation

- Maybe I should think of picking up ThanksgivingFunFacts.com on FabulousDomains.com for $700. Nope, I’ll keep them on the blog…remember, be careful of the attractiveness of seasonal domains. Buy them off-season if you truly believe they are good.

I am changing my mind on my request for the Amazon Kindle. After reading a bit more about what Seth had to say, and digging around on the Amazon site, I am removing it from my Christmas wish list.
The Kindle charges for the ability to read blogs. Considering I can read blogs for free on the web, I think I’ll pass at paying a monthly fee for these.
Also, being a blogger, I could not figure out how to offer out my blog on the Kindle. I know I do not receive nearly as much traffic as Seth (who is not offering out his blog either) or others, but as a reader, we should be able to read whatever is available out there. If it is possible to list my blog there, someone please let me know.

This is really a statistical study for the Freakonomics boys, but this CNN article today points out the crime that is resulting as people move out of a foreclosed house in Cleveland. Basically, looters waste no time in going in and steeling appliances, doors, moldings, even piping and wiring.
“In the inner city, it takes about 72 hours for a house to be looted after it is vacant.”
It’s come to the point where people are putting up signs on their houses as they are being evicted, as if they are pizza delivery boys carrying less than $20 cash:
“No copper, No wiring, PVC.”
We can only hope this is a result of specifics in Cleveland or inner city crime. If this spreads into a nationwide problem, we may be in for even more than a crushing recession.
