Xmas Card

It’s that time of the year again. The only time that makes me really worry about some sort of wrist or hand injury. Forget carpal tunnel syndrome, this is serious pain. It’s the time for writing Christmas cards.

For some reason I rely on typing for the entire year, yet I still feel like sending hand-written Christmas cards is the way to go, especially when it comes to business relationships. Unfortunately, since I do not write the rest of the year my handwriting is horrible and my hand muscles and coordination are at their worst.

This is my apology in advance to any readers getting cards that are difficult to read. If you prefer a legible version of my writing, please subscribe to Green Taxi for the other 364 days of the year.

Nobel Gore

Nobel Gore

Love him or hate him, he has won a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to bring awareness to the threat of Global Warming.  His speech in Oslo, while receiving the award, was bold and simple, just as he has been all along.  He stated,

“we, the human species, are confronting a planetary emergency — a threat to the survival of our civilization that is gathering ominous and destructive potential even as we gather here.” But, he added, “there is hopeful news as well: we have the ability to solve this crisis and avoid the worst — not all — of its consequences, if we act boldly, decisively and quickly.”

I do not entirely agree with him criticizing the United States, and its leader, in such a speech, but his final message was clear.

“We need to make peace with the planet.”

Buy .cn in China

Here’s an interesting article on why to buy .cn domains when doing business in China.  It can still be very questionable for a foreigner to own domains there, so I would suggest much caution when doing so.  I’ve heard of many domains that have been reclaimed by the Chinese government recently due to some sort of trademark or government infringement.  I think these domains usually had to do with politics or education or other communist type themes.

Be careful of what you buy, but .cn is here to stay in China.

Iraq Marine Blog

My brother, Michael, passes on this blog from Michael Yon, “Michael Yon: Online Magazine“, a writer travelling with a group of soldiers through Iraq.  It is very non-political biased, but well written and very detailed.  His “Gates of Fire” is a great read.  I have not read through much else yet, but I will start tracking his blog as of now.

I borrow a picture and comment from this story to draw your interest:
