Official Global Warming Studies

global warming rearview mirror

I have been waiting to find these studies for a while now.  I knew these were being done, but I finally was forwarded a story that referenced them as solid reason for support of Global Warming proof.

The international group set up by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations is called the IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change).  They are doing many studies on climate change and their reports are widely recognized as the most reliable and non-biased work on climate change.  The IPCC focuses on three areas:

  1. Assessing the physical scientific aspects of the climate system and climate change.
  2. Assessing the vulnerability of socio-economic and natural systems to climate change, negative and positive consequences of climate change, and options for adapting to it.
  3. Assessing options for mitigating climate change through limiting or preventing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing activities that remove them from the atmosphere.

Their 2007 study has been out for a while now and is worth the full read.  If you have any interest in understanding the facts behind climate change, read the full report.  The IPCC was initially mandated with doing four major Assessment Reports and they completed the previous reports in 1990, 1995, and 2001.

This final report concludes that ”most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic GHG (Greenhouse Gas) concentrations.

I have to agree that after reading this report I do agree that the numbers back up a serious risk to our environment that we are causing.
