Love him or hate him, he has won a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to bring awareness to the threat of Global Warming. His speech in Oslo, while receiving the award, was bold and simple, just as he has been all along. He stated,
“we, the human species, are confronting a planetary emergency — a threat to the survival of our civilization that is gathering ominous and destructive potential even as we gather here.” But, he added, “there is hopeful news as well: we have the ability to solve this crisis and avoid the worst — not all — of its consequences, if we act boldly, decisively and quickly.”
I do not entirely agree with him criticizing the United States, and its leader, in such a speech, but his final message was clear.
“We need to make peace with the planet.”
