I officially dropped T-mobile and the Blackberry yesterday and ported my old number over to my AT&T iPhone. For better or for worse, I am not locked in to the AT&T nightmare of a network (or is it?) and the revolution that is the iPhone.
I will miss the ability to type quickly on the Blackberry, but in the end I could not pass up the opportunity for 3G. Getting data and Internet service so quickly is addicting and it is too difficult to go back to what I equate to dial up. I just felt too limited by the applications on my Blackberry and the speed with which they worked.
I am improving my efficiency with iPhone email. It is still a disaster, but I limited myself to just a few of my email accounts and am not actively responding to emails as often via phone.
One of the clinchers was that I found out the Bloomberg App does actually allow for a Bloomberg Anywhere login. You can only use the messaging system (no IB), but it’s better than nothing.
I am still trying to get a feel for the battery life on the iPhone. Yesterday, I burned through the battery quite quickly while it has lasted quite a while on other days. I believe that using a bluetooth headset may have to do with the battery power dropping quickly, but have not yet isolated it to that.
Now begins a long journey of frustrating dropped calls and an always live real-time social media and Internet connection. With hope, in the future, we will see an improvement in either the iPhone keyboard/email or the AT&T network. If not, I will probably be upgrading again in about 12 months, either to the newest phone or perhaps a new network (Verizon iPhone?).
