Jeanie Holmquist Irvine 1950-2009

My mother, Jeanie Irvine, passed away yesterday morning, September 6th, at 130am, after a long battle with cancer.

I would love to write for hours and hours about her, but I don’t think any one person can do her justice.  She touched so many people’s lives that she can best be remembered as a compilation from everyone.

We have created a Facebook page where people can share their thoughts, memories, photos, and condolences.  We will also provide updates for the service on the page.

Please show your support by becoming a fan and adding your memories of her to the page.

Jeanie was a breath of fresh air. She would truly light up a room with her amazing smile and laugh. I knew her well in our junior high and high school days. She sort of mentored me in many ways, and I so looked up to her. A pretty fantastic role model, I would say! Over the years, I have seen her inconsistently, but it was always such a joy when I did. She made me feel loved and special, and we easily picked up where we left off. I am so saddened by her death. This world is a bit less bright with her physically gone. She does, however, continue to live on in the many lives she has touched, and we are better people because of this incredible woman. My love and prayers are with the family.

Our neighborhood was blessed with Jeanie, George, Connor, Michael and Patrick living in Alamo, California for most of the boy’s high school years. Watching the boys play on the Monte Vista Basketball team, playing tennis with Jeanie, neighborhood summer Margarita Fridays, holiday parties just to name a few things we were so blessed to share with all of them while they lived here.
Jeanie was so loved by all of us and our sympathy goes out to the Irvine family.
Hugs Cece, Steve, Michele and Greg Kohl

  • Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. The response and support from family and friends has been incredible.

Just as impressive is the support from the GreenTaxi tribe here, many of you whom I’ve never met. Thank you again and I’ll be back to normal blogging shortly.

I just heard about Jeanie’s passing, and wanted to send my condolences. Even though I have not seen her since high school and college, I am sure that her smile brightened many lives in the years since.
