social media marketing

As an Internet Publisher and Marketer with Neptune Ventures, it is important to understand all social media these days.  Facebook continues to grow and amaze me.  Twitter, I do not understand, but I will try it out.  I feel like I am missing something if I am not a part of it or if I do not try it out.

I stop using it if I do not find any good use for it.  I initially signed up with Facebook several years ago, but I did not use it much until the last 3-6 months as its user base has grown along with its functionality.  I have stopped following my Myspace account after I got disappointed enough with its technology.  After a recent check-in on the account after 6-8 months of dormancy, I noticed they have done a full tech upgrade to be inline with Facebook.  Too little, too late.

I wouldlike to maintain relationships with my contacts and friends, separating the two where possible.  Even more importantly than just linking to them as a “friend”, I want to interact with them on the Internet via the tools available.  In the end, nobody can find you unless you make it easy for them, you find them first, or you tell them about it.  This is my attempt to tell you how to stay in touch with my social media profile.

While GreenTaxi is a great way for me to speak to others, the best way I can interact with people is by sharing what I read.  I am not a great writer, but I do think I am very good at analyzing what I read and acting as a filter to others for what I feel is important or interesting.  The best way I know to do this is with Google Reader.  On Google Reader, you can not only track your own favorite blogs, but you can also read what I share.  I would encourage anyone to shoot me a message or share your Reader with me if you want to read what I find interesting.

If you are interested in staying in closer touch with me, here are the best ways:

  • Google Reader:  My user name is conorneu on Google.  You can message me or share your Google Reader with me and I will reciprocate.
  • Facebook:  If you are a friend of mine, search for me on Facebook.  I prefer to keep that network to friends only.
  • Facebook Pages:  I have a GreenTaxi page that I just created on Facebook.  Anyone is welcome to become a fan of that page.  I will use that for video sharing, links, and other general discussion on the Wall.
  • LinkedIn:  If you are a business contact, you can find me on Linked In.
  • Twitter:  I am now on Twitter.  (I’ll be honest this is much more of an experiment than something I will actually use.  I know how much I blog and how difficult it can be to write posts.  I do not even use Facebook to update my daily status, so I do not anticipate using Twitter to do the same)
  • GreenTaxi RSS:  You can always subscribe to the RSS feed of my GreenTaxi blog (into your Google Reader or another reader), or subscribe for email updates.
  • Basketball.org:  I often write articles for Basketball.org, so you can subscribe to the RSS feed there in your Google Reader.  You can also get the email udates for Basketball.org.
  • Myspace:  I am on Myspace, but I rarely use it.  It may be another few months before I check again to confirm you as a friend.
  • Youtube:  You can follow my video postings by subscribing or adding me as a friend.
  • Digg:  On Digg, you can follow what articles I find interesting by becoming a fan or friend.

Where are you?

What is your user so that I can find you?

And, am I missing anything really important?  I would like to find a great, high-tech, finance online community, but most are solely dedicated to the US markets.
