The green ratings of businesses continues to grow. Jaime posted an interesting blogon Lahaina.com last week on how our booking engine for hotels in Maui can sort the hotels by the “greenest”.
This is great news and a step in the right direction. I have read recently on SustainableInk about how the government should oversee “green” standards more closely. There are hundreds of green rating systems popping up and it is difficult to see through the clutter of which ones are more reliable. This sort of standards seems the place that the government would actually do good regulating.
Lahaina.com is using the “Travel Green” system created by Destination Earth for this sorting methodology. They focus specifically on hotels and resorts in their work.
I remember writing sorting algorithms in college to generate faster and more efficient sorting methodology. I guess it is a sign of the times that we now sort by color rather than numbers.
