We are offering the domain DrinkRecipes.com for $70,000 USD.
I know I said previously I was not selling domains, but we are raising money for another investment. I will be very sad to part with this name.
DrinkRecipes.com is THE premium category-killer domain for the Beverage industry. We would argue that behind maybe drinks.com, there are no other beverage industry terms that out-brand this domain as both a commonly understood term and that covers such a broad demographic of consumers.
Unfortunately, we have not had the time to develop it as we had wished. I think it is quite obvious that building a database and directory of drink recipes on the site would be how to build out this domain. Adding some user interactivity (ability to upload their own recipes, comment, rate, send recipes, etc.) would really help it grow.
I have always thought that selling this domain to an end-user beverage company would be the best use of the domain name. Imagine if you were Absolut Vodka and could put your brand of Vodka into every Vodka drink on the site. You would basically be telling a few thousand people per day that the recipe for this drink requires you to buy Absolut Vodka.
As you can see, there is a lot of power behind building this database of drink recipes. A non end-user developer could auction off recipes to these big brands to get their brand into the recipe. I truly feel that outside of big brand advertising on the site, that is the best way to monetize the domain in the long run.

What about MixedDrinks.com ? That seems to be a strong one also.
Strong one yes, but I would say not quite as good. Gets about 400 fewer searches per day according to SEObook, has about 10 million fewer page results in Google, etc.
You really can’t use “page results” as any sort of meaningful data. It means something when in quotes as far as competition is concerned, but the key factor is the number of searches, which based on the Google Keyword Tool is 40,500 per month for “mixed drinks” and 49,500 for “drink recipes.”
Good luck with the sale Conor. Any reason you didn’t make mention on the site that it’s for sale? Or did I just miss it?
Yeah, you’re right, page results is a bad example. In terms of searches, however, I have always found SEObook to be more accurate than Google’s estimates. At least in terms of our performance with our sites. Anyway, not a big deal either way.
No reason we did not mention it on the site. I guess because I did not really see DrinkRecipes.com site visitors (someone searching for drink recipes) as potential buyers as much as other domainers and the end-users we are trying to contact directly.
A lot of data on Twitter now. Wonder if you can pull it with API or whether real time search like this will diminish domain values. Example:
