California Budget Deficit Equals Pollution Costs
Twenty-Eight Billion Dollars. $28,000,000,000.
Sound familiar?
Yes, it is the amount that a non-partisan report has put as the potential budget deficit for California. Amazingly, it is also the amount that the Californian economy loses each year due to health effects caused by pollution.
I’m not suggesting that we can fix one with the other, but it is often amazing how the cost of one seemingly insignificant environmental issue can take in comparison to a massive credit and budget disaster.
