Book Review: Panic
Title: Panic: The Story of Modern Financial Insanity
Author/Editor: Michael Lewis
This book is nothing but a sneaky sales tactic. It is known as the “lastest Michael Lewis”, but after you are a few pages in you realize it is barely written by him at all. One chapter was all I read.
Michael Lewis is actually the “Editor” of the book. He has chosen 10-15 great essays about previous and current financial crashes and analyzed each briefly. Each 20 page essay is previewed by a single page intro from him. He also wrote a short foreword. If you purchase the book to read a “new Michael Lewis”, you will be extremely dissapointed.
Now, the articles may be great. However, I have no interest in reading his picks about financial market crashes. I have read hundreds of similar articles over the past year and I believe about 5% of the views or stats in the book would be new to me. If you have not read much about financial crashes, this may be the place to start.
I wouldn’t know. It was not for me.
