Unfortunately, according to this Bloomberg article, “Bigeye Tuna, Used in Sushi, Sashimi, Faces Extinction, WWF Says“, we may have to be careful what we eat when it comes to tuna at sushi restaurants. Considering LA probably has more sushi restaurants than Tokyo (Okay, an exaggeration, but barely), this is of great concern to me.
Unfortunately, similar to their whaling industry, Japan is playing the ignorance and arrogance cards. They claim they are not “aware Bigeye tuna faces extinction,” and are not going to take any measures to protect the fish.
