Neptune Ventures LLC announced the acquisition of the Lahaina.com GeoDomain this morning via this Press Release.  This could be our best purchase to date.

As we pointed out,

“Lahaina, a small town on the island of Maui in Hawaii, has been ranked as one of the top 10 destinations in the U.S. and top 100 in the world.

“Hawaii as an area is quite possibly the top tourist destination in the world.  Lahaina is one of the most popular destinations within Hawaii,” Michael Neu said.

As I mentioned previously, we are really looking forward to developing this domain.  Growing up, we took many vacations to Lahaina and finally have a new business reason to go back!  We love the town, island, and state, and could not have asked for a better GeoDomain to acquire. 

Lahaina has a lot going for it currently.  A town of only 9,000, the amount of tourists can easily exceed 40,000 on any given day.  The Lahaina area on the west side of Maui is home to some of the worlds best golf courses and beaches.  The population on Maui is expected to double in the next several years and with the growth of the Maui airport, domestic direct flights from outside the state continue to increase.  A current $365 million expansion of the airport is underway to permanently allow international flights from Japan and Canada as well.  The popular Kaanapali and Kapalua resorts are located within Lahaina and the events and attractions continue to grow as Lahaina expands from an adventure hub to an artistic culture.

We have a lot to learn regarding GeoDomain development.  We all (myself, Michael, and Jaime) plan to attend the Chicago GeoDomain Expo and would like to meet with as many of the experienced geodomainers as possible.  Researching strategies on tourist driven geodomains and any advice on the development experience from those owners will be very helpful for us.  Following the development of the Lowell.com by Elliot has been extremely beneficial as well.  Please let me know if any of you would like to meet up in Chicago and offer us a few tips.

We have quickly put up a basic site which we will maintain and slowly expand for the time being.  We hope we are able to launch with a more complete development within a few months and expand from there.
