Site Review: SeatGuru.com is a Great Tool
I was recommended this site by a coworker of mine who, amazingly, puts even more effort into travelling comfortably than I do. While not as tall as I am, he is still at least 6’2″, but easily outweighs me by 40-50 lbs, so it is worth his time to find seats that fit him comfortably.
This site, SeatGuru.com, gives you a map of each plane from each airline and gives explanations of positives and negatives of each seat on the plane. It also has comparison charts that clearly show the extra 2-3 inches benefit given to Economy Plus seats on United. Most importantly, it shows the seats with personal TV’s rather than the common cabin TV and shows flights that have Internet available.
I am testing this out and just adjusted my seat and my girlfriend’s seat on an upcoming United 757-200 flight. I moved us into what this map says is an exit row that will have extra legroom. I moved out of an aisle and window seat to two middle seats, just for this legroom, so I do hope this works out.
In regards to their business, I am not quite sure how they plan to monetize the site other than the few sponsored (AdSense) ads. However, I do like their domain name. While not perfectly generic or a category killer, it is also not completely made up and makes sense for what they are doing. The two, four-letter words, with good vowel placement, also makes it easy to spell and remember.

Seatguru is a must for anyone who travels regularly and isn’t 5’4″. I use them every time I book a flight on an unfamiliar airline or aircraft.
Thought I’d also point out TripLife at http://www.airtroductions.com/Home.aspx. This is another cool site dedicated to finding people to meet to sit next to, rather than taking your shot at the seat lottery.
